MVP of the month

katsikarismvpFotis Katsikaris completed another miracle for Bilbao and he rightfully earns the FCM award for MVP of December. What did the FCM coach achieve? Few years ago Bilbao was not even on the Spanish ACB and in a few days they will compete for the Euroleague Top16 phase, after qualifying from a thrilling group. Katsikaris lad his team into an amazing winning streak at the end of the group stage and by beating Caja Laboral at home, they booked their spot among the 16 best clubs of Europe. Another honor for Katsikaris who lead Bilbao last season to the finals of the Spanish league for the first time in their history.

-What an amazing month this has been for FCM power forward Giorgos Printezis. The 26-year old player produced impressive performances for Olympiakos, earning him rightfully the MVP of the month award. Printezis made 4 great matches for Olympiakos in the Greek league scoring 14, 18, 18 and 22 points respectively, especially in the derby against Panathinaikos he was unstoppable with 8/10 2pts! Printezis is currently the 6th scorer in the Greek A1, averaging 14.8 points per game, shooting with amazing percentages (75% 2pts, 60% 3pts), but he is by far the best scorer of the league based on minutes played, averaging 0.74 points/minute, as he scoring this much even if he only plays 20 minutes per game.

knutson-mallLevi Knutson started his rookie season in Spain with an explosive first month. The FCM player averaged 17.1 points for Mallorca during October's matches, contributing also in other aspects of the game with 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.7 steals, shooting with the amazing 46% behind the 3-point line. Knutson, who plays on loan from Zaragoza to Mallorca, rightfully claims the MVP award for October. Congratulations Levi!

katsikA few years ago Bilbao Basket was not even playing at the spanish ACB, as it has a short history. Lead by FCM coach Fotis Katsikaris the Basque team managed what seemed impossible: To eliminate both Valencia and Real Madrid in the play-offs, breaking twice the home advantage of its oppenents and to qualify for the finals of the Spanish league for the very first time in the history of the club. A remarkable accomplishment for the Greek coach that rightfully earns him the MVP of the month for May.

hanga-albacompAdam Hanga was in great form this April and lead Albacomp to the finals of the Hungarian A1. The 22-year old international had several great performances for the Hungarian play-offs that allowed Albacomp to eliminate Falco in the quarter finals and Atomeromu Paks in the semi-finals and now awaits to take on the regular season winners Szolnok in the finals. Hanga had 9 straight games with double digits in scoring and is expected to be a member of Hungary's national team as well this summer in their effort to qualify for the Eurobasket in Lithuania

romain-satoRomain Sato came to Panathinaikos as the MVP of the Italian league and when the season goes to the crucial part, he proved that his reputation was not unjust. The Central African forward had an excellent month and his contribution in the Euroleague play-off series against Barcelona was immense. Sato was the key player in Panathinaikos' away victory and then two back-to-back victories in Athens, secured Panathinaikos' presence in the Euroleague final four. And what a coincidence, Sato will have to face his former teammates of Siena, on his way to win his first European trophy.
